THE WONDERS OF ROME

Explore the marvels that surround us.

From the tranquility of nature to thrilling adventures, here are some of the nearby activities you can enjoy:

Piazza del Popolo, located at the northern end of Via del Corso, is one of Rome’s most iconic landmarks. This vast square, with its symmetrical and harmonious design, is a true masterpiece of urban planning and architecture.

Entering through the monumental Porta del Popolo, visitors are welcomed into a large open space dominated by the impressive Flaminio Obelisk. This ancient Egyptian obelisk, dating back to the 13th century BC, was brought to Rome by Emperor Augustus and originally stood in the Circus Maximus. Standing 24 meters tall, the obelisk is surrounded by a fountain adorned with white marble lions, adding an elegant touch to the heart of the square.

Villa Borghese is one of the largest and most fascinating public parks in Rome, located in the heart of the city. This vast green space, covering around 80 hectares, is a perfect combination of nature, art, and history, offering visitors an oasis of tranquility and beauty.

Originally a private villa belonging to the noble Borghese family, the park was designed in the 17th century by Cardinal Scipione Borghese, nephew of Pope Paul V. The cardinal transformed the area into a luxurious garden featuring a rich collection of exotic plants, sculptures, fountains, and small lakes, making it one of the most refined gardens in Europe.

Auditorium Parco della Musica is one of the most important cultural and musical centers in Rome and in all of Italy. Located in the Flaminio district, north of the historic center, this architectural and cultural complex was designed by the renowned architect Renzo Piano and inaugurated in 2002. The auditorium is a landmark for music, art, and culture, offering a wide range of events and activities for the public.

The Auditorium Parco della Musica stands out for its innovative and functional design. The complex consists of three large concert halls — Santa Cecilia, Sinopoli, and Petrassi — each with unique acoustic and architectural features. The Santa Cecilia Hall, the largest of the three, can accommodate up to 2,800 spectators and is mainly used for symphonic concerts and opera performances. The Sinopoli Hall, with a capacity of 1,200 seats, hosts chamber music concerts and theatrical performances, while the Petrassi Hall, with 700 seats, is dedicated to more experimental events and visual arts performances.

The Stadio Olimpico is one of the most important and iconic sports venues in Italy, located within the Foro Italico sports complex in the Della Vittoria district of Rome. This multifunctional stadium has a long history and holds special significance for Italian and international sports enthusiasts.

Inaugurated in 1953, the Stadio Olimpico was built for the 1960 Rome Olympic Games, where it hosted the opening and closing ceremonies as well as numerous athletic events. With a capacity of around 70,000 spectators, it is the second-largest stadium in Italy. Over the years, the stadium has undergone several renovations — the most significant during the 1990 FIFA World Cup — improving its architecture and facilities to better accommodate fans and athletes alike.

The bridge is best known for the Battle of Ponte Milvio, which took place in 312 AD. In this decisive clash, Emperor Constantine the Great defeated Maxentius, marking the beginning of Christian dominance in the Roman Empire. According to legend, before the battle Constantine had a vision of a cross with the words “In hoc signo vinces” (“In this sign, you will conquer”), which inspired him to march toward victory.

The bridge is particularly famous for the Battle of the Milvian Bridge, which took place in 312 d.C. This decisive battle saw the emperor Constantine the Great defeat of Maxentius, marking the beginning of the dominance of christians in the Roman Empire. Legend has it that Constantine before the battle, he had a vision of the cross with the inscription “In hoc signo vinces” (“With this sign you will conquer”), which inspired him to march towards victory.
